An exterior staircase is being built onto a protected building to provide access to a self-contained flat on the attic floor. Its listed status requires the creation of a light, planted staircase in line with the plant-covered facade. In order to provide access to the parking space, the staircase cannot bear the weight via a central support, which is why a corkscrew staircase was developed. The request for greenery made by the Agency for the Protection of Cultural Property was rejected due to the shadowy north-facing aspect. But the request for the staircase to merge with the greenery of the facade has been translated into a laser-cut pattern on the railings.
