The residential building at Zürcherstrasse 30 was constructed as part of a housing estate during the period 1914-1926 and is still a testament to domestic culture in Rapperswil after the First World War.
The building was planned as a three-family building by the architect E. Walcher-Gaudy for the builder Julius Burtscher. The pre-construction drawings from 1914 correspond for the most part with the building’s current condition.

The facades were recently completely restored, and a studio apartment will now be built in the previously unused attic. In order to preserve as much valuable space in the central, accessible part of the attic as possible, the bathroom is being integrated into the dormer. However, the shower, which receives light through a skylight, had to be pushed into the middle area, where it is forms one end of the kitchen. Sliding cupboards have been installed in the opposite dormer to provide maximum usability in the non-accessible areas.
